A Community Pathway Connector (CPC) program session on the Gold Coast brought women together to explore Mexican culture through a creative workshop inspired by traditional Huichol art.
Participants at the CPC Women’s Space used colourful yarn to create their own artwork, learning about the distinctive craft while sharing a cultural experience in a warm and supportive environment.
The session was facilitated by CPC worker Janette, who introduced participants to an aspect of her Mexican heritage. The group experimented with different materials and colour combinations as they developed their own designs.
The workshop provided an opportunity for participants to learn a new craft, connect with others and experience another culture through art. Organisers said the session demonstrated how creativity and cultural exchange can help strengthen community connections.
Participants also praised the workshop, highlighting the friendly atmosphere, teaching and opportunity to try Huichol art.
The CPC program thanked everyone who took part and said it was encouraging to see creativity, culture and community come together at the Women’s Space.
