The Multicultural Communities Council Gold Coast (MCCGC) has announced that Thread Count: Global, a multicultural celebration created by young people for young people, will be held on November 6 at Griffith University’s Southport campus, bringing together young people to celebrate culture, creativity, identity and belonging.
The event will take place at The Function Centre, The Link (G07), Griffith University, Southport, from 5pm to 9pm.
MCCGC said the event had been rescheduled to Friday, November 6, 2026, and apologised to those who had been waiting for the celebration.
Young people who have already registered for the event do not need to take any further action, as their registrations remain valid.
Described as a multicultural prom night, Thread Count: Global will feature food, music, live performances and a fashion show showcasing traditional dress from around the world.
The event is designed to provide young people with an opportunity to celebrate their cultural identities while connecting with others from different backgrounds across the Gold Coast.
Thread Count: Global is open to young people aged 14 to 25 and is a free event.
Participants are encouraged to attend in traditional attire, cultural clothing or something that represents their identity and personal background.
The event will be held at The Function Centre, The Link (G07), Griffith University, Parklands Drive, Southport, Queensland 4215.
MCCGC said the celebration aims to bring young people together in an atmosphere of culture, creativity and connection, while providing a platform to showcase diverse cultural traditions.
The council thanked the community for its continued support and said it looked forward to celebrating the diversity, colour and connections of young people at the event.
