Minister for Multicultural Affairs Dr Anne Aly will deliver a ministerial address at the FECCA2026 National Conference in Canberra on October 15, where more than 600 multicultural leaders, politicians, senior business figures and community representatives from across Australia are expected to discuss the future of multicultural Australia and the opportunities and challenges shaping the nation.
The Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) announced Dr Aly’s participation as part of the conference program, which will be held from October 14 to 16 at Australian Parliament House and Old Parliament House in Canberra.
The ministerial address is scheduled for Thursday, October 15, at the Great Hall of Australian Parliament House.
The conference is being held under the theme “FECCA2026: Navigating Change, Shaping Australia – Many Stories, One Future” and will bring together representatives from multicultural communities, policymakers, business and the broader community sector.
FECCA said the conference will provide an opportunity to examine Australia’s multicultural identity and discuss issues related to leadership, belonging, cultural inclusion, and social and economic participation.
Dr Aly is currently Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Minister for Small Business and Minister for International Development. She was sworn into the multicultural affairs portfolio in May 2025.
Her portfolio has included initiatives aimed at strengthening multicultural policy and community participation. In 2025, the federal government announced the establishment of an Office for Multicultural Affairs within the Department of Home Affairs, with responsibilities including settlement and language services and a broader national approach to multicultural affairs.
FECCA’s 2026 conference will also feature keynote addresses and panel discussions involving community leaders, policymakers and representatives from different sectors. FECCA has described the gathering as an opportunity to consider how multiculturalism will evolve as Australia responds to social and economic changes.
The conference program includes a panel on “Multiculturalism in Australia Today”, bringing together representatives from politics, healthcare, disability advocacy, policing, local government and media diversity.
Another feature will be the Walk for Multiculturalism on October 15, with delegates travelling from Australian Parliament House to Old Parliament House.
FECCA CEO Prerana Mehta said the conference would focus on the role of leadership, belonging, cultural inclusion and participation in shaping Australia’s future.
FECCA has invited multicultural leaders and community representatives from across Australia to participate in the three-day conference. The organisation has also opened registration for the event through its conference platform.
