The Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA), the Australian Multicultural Women’s Alliance (AMWA) and the Australian Multicultural Health Collaborative marked Women’s Health Week with activities focused on movement, rest, healthy food, wellbeing and community connection, including a special gathering at Fairfield Women’s Health Service in Cabramatta.
The organisations used the week to encourage women to make time for their physical and emotional wellbeing both at work and in their communities.
Activities during the week included lunchtime sessions that encouraged participants to move, rest and recharge. The organisers also highlighted the importance of healthy food, taking breaks and maintaining connections with colleagues and community members.
The week concluded with a morning gathering at Fairfield Women’s Health Service in Cabramatta, which brought together participants for conversations, community interaction and physical activity.
The gathering included a Zumba session, adding an element of movement and exercise to the celebrations.
FECCA thanked Elly Dang and the Fairfield Women’s Health Service team for hosting the gathering and supporting the Women’s Health Week activities.
The organisations said the event provided an opportunity to connect outside the office while highlighting the different ways people can look after their health.
The Women’s Health Week activities also underscored the role of community connections in supporting wellbeing, particularly among women from culturally diverse backgrounds.
The week was jointly marked by FECCA, AMWA and the Australian Multicultural Health Collaborative, with activities designed around the themes of moving, resting, fuelling, breathing and connecting.
