Queensland Human Rights Commissioner Scott McDougall was acknowledged for his seven years of service since his appointment in October 2018. His address reflected on the progress made in protecting human rights across Queensland and noted the continued work needed to strengthen equality and justice.
Drawing on his experience working with communities and government, McDougall spoke about building a rights-based Queensland as the state prepares to welcome the world for the 2032 Olympic Games.
Following his address, ABC’s Ellen Fanning hosted a Q&A session that encouraged open discussion about the future of human rights in Queensland and the role of community in shaping it.
