On Saturday 7 February 2026 the Department of Home Affairs recently partnered with Queensland Cricket, Queensland Police Service (QPS) and a range of government and community stakeholders to support the annual Multicultural Community Inclusion and Engagement Goodwill Cup 2026.
The T20 cricket match held at Allan Border Field saw the Institute for Australia–India Engagement, Brisbane (South Asia) XI securing victory by a close margin against the QPS team.
The event brought together multicultural communities, sporting organisations and government agencies to promote inclusion, strengthen partnerships and raise awareness of domestic and family violence (DFV) prevention and support services, with the powerful message, Break the Silence, End the Violence.
Regional Director Qld/NT, Charlie Shandil, said, “Events such as the Goodwill Cricket Cup provide an important platform to engage multicultural communities and raise awareness of domestic and family violence. By supporting this event, Home Affairs is reinforcing the message to break the silence and end the violence, while working collaboratively with community, sporting and government partners to promote safety and respect for all.”
