Thousands of people gathered at South Bank for the Luminous Lantern Parade, celebrating Queensland’s cultural diversity and welcoming new Queenslanders into the community.
Hosted by Multicultural Australia, the vibrant event featured a colourful lantern procession, cultural displays, music and performances. The celebration brought together people from diverse cultural backgrounds and highlighted the contribution of multicultural communities to Queensland.
The lantern parade featured creative displays representing a wide range of cultures, communities and meaningful themes. Families, community groups and visitors came together to enjoy the spectacle and celebrate the strength of Queensland’s diversity.
The evening also featured a concert showcasing the talent of local performers, adding to the festive atmosphere and providing another platform for cultural expression.
The event was attended by community representatives and guests, including Queensland Governor Fiona Simpson and Vicki Howard, who delivered speeches highlighting the importance of multiculturalism and community connections.
