Maha Shivaratri is a sacred festival night of India. It celebrates the Grace of Shiva, the First Guru, from whom the yogic tradition originates. The planetary positions on this night are so powerful, a natural upsurge of energy in the human system occurs, which is beneficial for one’s physical and spiritual wellbeing.
Shivaratri is celebrated on the 6th night of the dark Phalgun every year. On this day Shiva devotees observe fast and do various abhishekam with milk, water, flowers etc. on Shiva Linga. This auspicious day is believed to be the day of convergence of divine powers of Lord Shiva and Goddess Shakti. Religious activities are carried out with the chanting of Om Namah Shivaya.
We request devotees to bring flowers appropriate for Shiva if you can, and If you like to contribute towards food distribution “Annadanam”, please contact Gowri 0409 630 856.
