Leaders from the Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) recently held key meetings in Canberra with several federal ministers to highlight the importance of social cohesion and inclusive policy ahead of the 2025 Federal Election.
FECCA CEO Mary Ann Baquero Geronimo and Chair Peter Doukas met with Peter Khalil MP, Special Envoy for Social Cohesion, and Tony Burke MP, Minister for Home Affairs, among others. Discussions focused on FECCA’s newly released Election Platform and the organisation’s ongoing efforts to support a united and multicultural Australia. The FECCA Election Platform outlines strategic advice and policy recommendations for candidates and current Members of Parliament. It identifies priority areas essential for building a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous nation, with a strong emphasis on community voices, cultural diversity, and long-term social cohesion.
As Australia prepares for the upcoming federal election, FECCA reaffirmed its commitment to representing multicultural communities and ensuring their perspectives are embedded in the national political conversation.
