The endeavour supports language diversity in Queensland
Brisbane, April 14 (MCCQ Newsdesk)
The Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland (ECCQ) recently participated in a series of vibrant community events celebrating cultural diversity and humanitarian solidarity. One of the standout moments was ECCQ’s presence at the “Thingyan” Water Festival and fundraiser, held in support of Myanmar communities facing hardship both in Australia and overseas. The festival offered a rich display of Myanmar’s traditions, including the deep-rooted value of caring for one another during difficult times.
On April 13, ECCQ joined the 2025 Eid and Nawroz Festival at Logan Gardens, where thousands gathered to honour Afghan heritage. ECCQ staff were moved by the strength and unity shown by the Afghan community, especially the Hazaragi cultural expressions that brought people together for a day of celebration and connection.
In addition to cultural festivities, ECCQ contributed to important discussions at the 19th National Community Language Schools Conference held on April 12. The event brought educators, advocates, and community leaders together to champion multilingual education and preserve heritage languages across Australia.
ECCQ’s continued involvement in these events reflects its ongoing commitment to cultural celebration, community cohesion, and meaningful dialogue across Queensland.
