The Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland (ECCQ) is partnering with La Trobe University on a national digital health program aimed at raising awareness in multicultural communities about lifestyle factors that can reduce the risk of developing dementia.
As part of the initiative, ECCQ recently hosted a MindCare Digital Community Workshop with members of the African community in Logan. The workshop formed part of a national co-design process to ensure the program reflects the voices and needs of multicultural communities.
MindCare Digital is an online program developed in consultation with multicultural communities to make dementia prevention more accessible. It provides culturally relevant tips on supporting brain health, including advice on nutrition, physical activity, social connection, management of health conditions, sleep, alcohol intake, and hearing care.
During the session, participants provided feedback on the resources, focusing on cultural relevance, clarity, and practical application. This input will be used to refine the program, helping it better meet the needs of diverse communities across Australia.
